Android Trojan on Google Play Store Targets Banking Apps
A researcher has discovered a new variant of an Andorid banking Trojan hiding in apps with names related to the phrase “Funny Videos” on the Google Play Store.
The app in questions has between 1,000 and 5,000 installs and acts like any other video app, but in the background targets victims from over 420 banks around the world.
The malware intercepts SMS and display overlays to steal banking information. The app will request administrative rights that, if given, allow it to control the smartphone.
