Former Marriott Employee Hacks System and Cuts Rates
A former employee of Marriott, Juan Rodriguez, hacked into the reservation system and cut room rates to as little as $12 per night.
Rodriguez was fired in August. Several weeks later, he allegedly hacked Marriott’s booking network and cost the hotel over $50,000 after cutting room rates to less than $60 per night – down from up to $499 per night.
Rodriguez was caught thanks to his IP address, which was used for remote access to the system.
