Cisco Discovers Vulnerabilities in Switchers

Cisco has discovered a critical zero day IOS/IOS XE vulnerability after dissecting the latest leaks from Wikileaks detailing tactics of the CIA.

Cisco warns that the CMP processing code in Cisco IOS and IOS XE software is vulnerable in over 300 of its switch models.

The flaw could allow unauthenticated, remote attackers to cause a reboot of the device or execute malicious code on the device to take full control.

Cisco is urging owners of these devices to disable the Telnet connection in favor of SSH until a patch is available.
