Malware Pre-Installed in Androids
Two unidentified companies were recently the victims of unique cybercrime.
The companies received shipments of Android devices that came preinstalled with malware. The malware was not part of the official ROM firmware from the phone manufacturers, indicating that they were added somewhere along the supply chain.
Most of the malicious apps were stealing information and displaying ads on the phone. However, Loki, a malicious app that gains priveleges on the system, and Slocker, an app that uses Tor to conceal the identity of its operators, were also found.
