Thanks to information technology trade organization CompTIA, that entry-level educational opportunity is now free. The organization is making its online course on the fundamentals of IT free to anyone.
The offering — part of a partnership between CompTIA and BenchPrep — includes free 30-day licenses for the CertMaster Learn eLearning course for CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+).
With much of the country under a government-imposed lockdown due to COVIDV-19, millions of people will be at home either out of work or performing their duties in the home office.

“Why not spend some of the time exploring a new career?” said Todd Thibodeaux, the chief executive and president of CompTIA. “Whether you’re a student exploring career options; a displaced worker looking for a new opportunity in another field; or simply someone who wants to expand their understanding of IT we invite you to take part in this opportunity to prepare for a better future.”
CompTIA bills the program as the only pre-career certification to help students, career changers and those new to IT determine if an tech career is the right fit.
According to the organization, the program can be customized and personalized to meet an individual’s preferred method of learning, featuring interactive learning with flashcards and performance-based questions, videos and self-assessments and analytics to track progress.
