In order for a better lighting experience in its administrative offices, San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) invested in a new lighting system by Cree.
This new system is Cree’s SmartCast Technology, which features LED lighting and integrated control capabilities.
The system installation in the administrative offices includes:
• Cree CR Series troffers with SmartCast Technology, which deliver high-lighting performance and lighting control
• The OneButton Setup, which features luminaries enabled with SmartCast Technology to create a secure network, learn about the environment and form groups to maximize savings with one push of a button
• Cree Edge for exterior campus lighting, which includes security and high output flood lights
• An offering of up to 100,000 hours of life expectancy
SDCCD financed the installation through Proposition 39 funding, a state program that makes up to $550 million available for energy projects within the state.
The new lighting system will enable SDCCD to consume up to 75 percent less energy and generate over $80,000 in rebates.
“This installation demonstrates how making the switch to high-quality LED lighting can serve as one of the quickest ways for an educational facility to reduce operating expenses and create a better working and learning environment throughout the campus,” said Betty Noonan, Cree chief marketing officer, in a previous statement.
