We’ve alluded to the transition from physical media to streaming content already, but it’s important to note how this evolution has affected music production.
In the glory years of stereo, records were mastered with high levels of dynamics. This means the deepest lows, the loudest peaks or crescendos, and the softest “P” piano or diminuendo pieces were all given space to breath. This may be part of the reason why people are rediscovering vinyl. Dynamics provide a better listening experience.
