Old: Stage Wedges
With the advent of louder amps and more sophisticated sound reinforcement systems in the 1970s, it was a common site to see stage wedges.
These products allowed front of house engineers (FOH) to send specific components of the live sound mix to a speaker in which the guitar player, drummer, vocalist, etc., can hear.
Many veteran musicians still use wedges, but through a number of factors the use of these products has steadily decreased.
