Old: Acoustic Instruments
Back in the day, recording engineers meticulously “mic’ed” drums, guitar amps and other instruments to help capture certain sounds. The results of these efforts have gone on to make music history.
For example, think about John Bonham’s drum sound on Led Zeppelin’s When the Levee Breaks and Eddie Van Halen’s Eruption warm-up guitar solo. Not only are these iconic recordings, they represent iconic sounds that many guitar players and drummers have chased. Moreover, they were also happy accidents that were not planned.
