Digitally-based modeling amplifiers are growing in usage.
These products from companies like Fractal Audio Systems and Kemper can be programmed to emulate the sound of classic amps from companies like Fender, Marshall and Vox, while providing an array of effects that can be used with the amp emulation technologies.
Today, musicians will use modeling amps during live performances and in the studio to avoid the cost, labor and maintenance of lugging tube amps and speaker cabinets.
