Microsoft has added two new productivity apps to Teams designed to keep team members informed and track key initiatives.
The apps – Bulletins and Milestones – are easy to configure and can work immediately. They are built on the Power Platform and “can easily be extended using the powerful low-code platform from right within Teams to meet the unique needs of businesses,” the company said in a recent blog post.
Bulletins, according to Microsoft, is a new app that helps managers and leaders keep teams informed of the latest company news and information. Communication teams can share company or department news and information in a central place. Content can be organized under categories and include images, videos, and actionable buttons.
The Bulletins app can be pinned to the left rail of Teams, and users can customize their views per their interests. The app is optimized for mobile use, so workers in the field can stay up to date on relevant information.
Once installed, admins have full access to the source code, which includes the ability to edit apps using the Power Apps personal app in Teams to customize the experience with company branding and more.

According to the blog, the app is an evolution of the Crisis Communication template released at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Milestones is designed to improve collaboration for cross-functional teams by creating a central place to track status and updates, according to Microsoft.
Like, Bulletins, it can also be pinned to the left rail in Teams.
Users can track work items by owners and status, and updates to status are tracked in the activity log. The dashboard provides a full view of the overall product.
According to Microsoft, Milestones is unique in that it gives admins the ability to customize the experience and update the fields’ labels, add new fields or add business process flows like notifications to work stream owners in the event of a status change.
These two new apps come shortly after the company announced the ability to share Dataverse for Teams apps beyond immediate team members, which allows organizations to bring collaborative Line of Business scenarios to the Teams platform.
