Verizon and Samsung Create a Mobile Phone Experience That Features Desk Phone Functions

Exclusive Samsung Galaxy Enhanced Dialer makes the office desk phone redundant.

Mobile phones and desk phones handle many of the same tasks, but they are worlds apart when it come their interfaces. In attempt to deliver similar experiences no matter which communications tool employees use, Verizon and Samsung Electronics America have jointly developed Enhanced Dialer, which the companies unveiled recently at Enterprise Connect in Orlando, Fla.

Enhanced Dialer leverages Verizon’s One Talk and business services portfolio on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ phone.  The new solution makes the Samsung mobile phone interface resemble a traditional office desk phone, making it easy for users to deploy features like multi-line calling, executive-assistant line sharing, call transferring and holding and more. The functionality is all built into the Samsung Galaxy display dialer, for a simple, easy-to-use mobile experience.

“Businesses of all sizes are rapidly moving to mobile-first solutions, and by offering Verizon One Talk – and other Verizon business solutions – over Samsung devices, we can make our customers more productive and more empowered than ever before,” says Shawn Hakl, SVP Business Products for Verizon. “Enhanced Dialer enables employees to use their smartphones to deploy all the business services they are used to, from wherever they are. At the end of the day, this means businesses can build out their operations using a wireless-first solution, helping their employees to be more productive, and also saving money.”

“Enterprises are in the midst of an unprecedented level of change, as new mega trends such as 5G and AI challenge them to reconsider their business models,” adds Taher Behbehani, SVP and general manager of Samsung for Business, Samsung Electronics America.  “Premium mobile devices, specifically smartphones and tablets, are more powerful than ever and are at the center of this transformation. Our new offering with Verizon delivers the most comprehensive mobile office solution for small businesses and enterprises today—one that not only serves their immediate needs, but also future proofs them for tomorrow.”

In addition to enabling employees to access all the call features they are used to on an office desk phone, the Verizon One Talk-enabled device can also  be used in conjunction with a laptop (via Samsung DeX) so that office phone features can be accessed via an external display.
