Red Hat, Inc., the provider of open source solutions, announced that Red Hat OpenShift was awarded the 2019 Ford IT Innovation award. The award showcases Ford’s technology partners that have helped it launch new capabilities and services or enhance existing operations.

Additionally, the company’s IT experts are known in multiple technology circles across the open source community as thought leaders. Red Hat is honored to be recognized by this award, which is voted on by Ford’s elite technical specialists.
Over the past year, Ford has been working with Red Hat to move complex, stateful applications to more elastic, cloud-based deployment patterns, says Red Hat.
Using Red Hat OpenShift 4 running on Linux CoreOS with Kubernetes Operators, automation has enabled Ford to attach its solution to bare metal deployments and geographically distant datacenters or public clouds.

With this mixture of on-premise, virtual and cloud-based deployments Ford has been able to deliver a more agile and infrastructure-agnostic approach for application services that can be the hardest to transform, the release says.
