Tearing your pants while inside your local tailor shop is a little bit like tackling an audio challenge inside the offices of Bose Professional headquarters. The experts are right there. That’s why it’s interesting to learn about how Bose Professional dealt with something that many companies are challenged by: providing quality, consistent audio to combinable meeting rooms.

Combinable meeting rooms – or divisible meeting rooms or multipurpose meeting rooms – are becoming popular for their flexibility, but that flexibility brings with it some inherent audio challenges.

During a recent webcast, How to Leverage Dante for Streamlining Installs in Today’s Conferencing Environments, panelist Justin O’Connor, ControlSpace DSP Trainer for Bose Professional, shared some insight into how Bose ControlSpace EX series Dante-based conferencing products helped solve an audio challenge inside the Bose Professional headquarters in Framingham, Mass.

“We had a test case here in our own headquarters with two combinable rooms, each room individually had to accommodate table re-configurations,” O’Connor explained during the webcast.

“While there was control for the soft codecs and ability to access the VoIP from a touchscreen we didn’t have a robust third-party control system that we could actually use to manage the combining. So we had to rely on the DSP to respond to the combined state of the room and do all of that work.”

O’Connor goes on to explain how Bose Professional turned to its lineup to solve the audio challenge.

“With our Bose ControlSpace EX-1280C processor, one per room, we actually have some significant features in there which include our conference room router which is a unique processing block that allows the routing of far ends and local sources to be correctly routed with tremendous ease and tremendous error proofing.

“And we also have the ability to do room combined groups to allow us to make combinable conference rooms.”
