Audio visual equipment and other high tech innovations are changing the face of coaching and team development for sports at the university level.
We have already seen several examples of how technology has helped drive students’ success rate. Now, universities are leveraging these technologies to enhance their sports teams’ performance.
In fact, the University of Pittsburgh has already invested in technology to give their athletes “a competitive advantage against their new opponents” when they moved to the Atlantic Coast Conference from the Big East Conference in mid-2013.
Pitt’s Athletic Director, Steve Pederson, implemented audio visual technology for the football and basketball teams to record both practices and games. Since then, the athletic department of the university has been using high-definition video technology for other Division I teams, including soccer, gymnastics, track and field events, and tennis.
It’s not just the University of Pittsburgh that has started to use AV technology for their sports teams. Many other college athletic departments nationwide are introducing high-definition video technology, especially since HD cameras and monitors have become more affordable.
