2) Make sure the technologies are easy to use
If the technologies are talking to each other correctly, then they will be easy to use and ensure smooth sailing in the lab. Technology can be simplified by installing a touch screen system, or by making a technology function by one touch of a button.
“The idea was to make this system simple so a chef could use it,” Visnjic says. “We understand they are not engineers. We wanted to make an interface anyone can use.”
3) Communicate with your teammates
Visnjic says one of the big factors that made the FIU restaurant lab successful was its active communication and weekly meetings with all team members, including engineers, architects and the customer.
“The brainstorming phase lasted a year,” he says. “We met with the customer and different manufacturers and found out their conditions and requirements. It was one big family…Communication is definitely key to keep everyone on the same page.”
