Five [examples of] colleges that rank among top 30 nationwide institutions for on-site energy usage include The University of Missouri, Butte College, Heartland Community College, the University of Minnesota and the University of Iowa.
They are among the top 30 consumers of renewable energy in the country, according to the EPA:
o 32,584,935 kWh annual green power used
o 13% of that power is generated on-site
o Biomass, solar and wind technologies installed on-site
o 7,001,941 kWh annual green power used
o 90% of that power is generated on-site
o Solar installed on-site
o 5,210,378 kWh annual green power used
o 59% of that power is generated on-site
o Biomass, solar and wind technologies installed on-site
o 5,085,147 kWh annual green power used
o 60% of that power is generated on-site
o Wind installed on-site
o 5,036,860 kWh annual green power used
o 3% of that power is generated on-site
o Biomass installed on-site
