Advanced Gene Therapy
Advanced gene therapy allows for doctors to replace genes that hold rare genetic diseases. The idea is to implant an engineered virus to deliver healthy copies of a gene into patients with defective genes. These procedures are already occurring in places like Boston Children’s Hospital. Advanced gene therapy can lead to, potentially, cures for cancer, heart disease, and other common illnesses.
