More Talk About Tech
With increased implementations of technology in the classroom, colleges and schools are talking to each other more about what solutions work for them, which ones don’t, and how to adjust. Brown says the information exchange between schools and institutions is one of the best strategies technology-users can take advantage of, especially if one school is implementing a solution that is similar to another school’s.
Sharing advice and experiences about technology implementations can save schools and colleges lots of money, and time.
“The faculty, the instructional technologists, they love hearing, ‘what happened when you did that?’” Brown says. “I know it sounds corny, but…if you had to pay other schools to share the information, it would be worth it. But, they’ll just tell you. It’s amazing, it’s my favorite thing in my job, is running around and helping make these connections out there. [Schools should] survey in the beginning, but as you get closer to deciding on a system and get things ready to go, establish relationships with people who’ve put up the same systems. It’s valuable knowledge you can’t put a price on. It’s saving you years.”
