Extinct: VHS

A VHS tape was often used for training purposes. A company would spend money to record the need-to-know information for new employees onto rolls of film encased in small black boxes. When the VHS tape was finished you would need to push a button to roll the film back to the beginning in order to watch it again. This would take several minutes and many employees would forego this step, leaving it to the next unfortunate soul that wished to view the VHS tape. This rudimentary form of recording was all but erased by the invention of DVDs, then BluRays, and ultimately streaming.
