San Diego State University is implementing The Learning Glass Studio to increase student learning.
The Learning Glass Studio is a see-through, glass whiteboard, and was created by one of the university’s physics instructors, Matt Anderson.
“You just walk into the studio and give your normal whiteboard lecture, except now it’s on glass and you’re facing the students,” Anderson said in a previous statement.
The glass whiteboard helps Anderson teach students in the classroom, and distance learning students remotely. No matter where students are located, they are able to watch lessons live or online, and witness Anderson flipping notes in front of the glass whiteboard.
San Diego State University also utilizes Mediasite by Sonic Foundry to record any lesson, including those with the glass whiteboard.
“Mediasite allows us to deliver high-quality, high-definition video to our students,” Anderson said in a previous statement. “My students felt more connected to me while watching a lecture in the studio versus being face-to-face in a 500-person class, even though most of them are sitting at home watching online via Mediasite.”
