At this year’s InfoComm, NEC Display Solutions‘ booth is all about interactivity.
NEC is showcasing multiple interactivity solutions, including its latest ultra-wide screen, single projector and large format display.
Bob Guetner, Senior Product Manager of Projectors at NEC says the ultra-wide screen has interactivity features built in to it, and end users can engage with the technology and each other through touch.
He says that even though the ultra-wide screen is on display at a monstrous 16 feet long by four feet wide, end users can customize its size for a smaller setting, such as a classroom.
“Basically, it’s three ultra-short throw projectors that are edged blended, and they have built in interactivity,” say Guetner. “So there’s a touch module that can be used so you can go up to the board, touch the screen and control your programs. You can move different programs from one screen to another, or to different areas of the screen.”
Guetner says end users can operate a couple different programs simultaneously on the screen, such as PowerPoint and note-taking programs.
He also says college instructors can grant students interactivity access on the screen during class.
“Another section of the screen could be an area where students have the ability to connect and put annotations on the board,” Guetner says. “The presenter can open access to the students as well, and pick which students can put information on the screen.”
Guetner also says NEC’s new single projector possesses similar interactivity features found on the ultra-wide screen.
“We’re seeing that teachers have more flexibility and more than one surface to work with, or one screen to work with and have multiple screens up and running at the same time,” he says.
Guetner says the major distinguishing feature the single projector has is its solid state lighting.
