Aftereffects of the project
Grimm says the video wall was well received on campus, and has become a multi-purpose solution for the university.
“It’s used as a back drop for many speaking engagements, press conferences, even in a commercial for St. Xavier University,” he says. “It’s sort of one of the biggest highlights on campus. It’s almost like a lighthouse. It’s this beacon that draws students into the area and the artwork just keeps it captivating.”
Tips to managing your own mosaic video wall
Involve your integrators early
Reasner says if colleges plan on imitating SXU’s video wall solution, they should involve their integrators sooner rather than later.
Doing so will improve the timeliness of construction and the installation, and will paint a clear picture of where the project is going.
“It’s just talking about the way you intend to use that final configuration and final product,” Reasner says. “I think it’s quite limitless and offers a unique opportunity.”
Cater towards your clients – students
Grimm says colleges should consider a solution that will attract and engage students.
He says colleges should do this by thinking outside the box and investing time into researching a solution that will best fit your students’ needs.
“Think of your students, who are your clients, when designing it,” he says. “What’s going to be engaging to them, what’s going to attract them to the areas, what’s going to give them the best experience. In the end, that’s what we’re all here for. We’re here to provide them the best experience.”
