IT and electronics giant NEC is partnering with cloud-based unified communications firm Intermedia to launch two communication solutions for businesses of all sizes.
The deal forms NEC UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT and NEC UNIVERGE BLUE ENGAGE which the companies call a fully integrated cloud-based unified communications-as-a-service solution (UCaaS) and a contact center-as-a-service solution (CCaaS), respectively. The new solutions are built in Intermedia’s technology, and support will be brought to market through NEC’s partner ecosystem.
Both will help companies move their operations to the cloud.
In a joint press release, the companies called NEC UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT a business communications platform that includes cloud-based phone, chat, videoconferencing, file sync and share for the deskptop, web and mobile apps.

Meanwhile, NEC UNIVERGE BLUE ENGAGE is a cloud-based contact center that can fit the needs of small, single channel to large omni-channel environments.
Both solutions are slated for U.S. rollouts in the second quarter through NEC’s channel partners. Both are able to be integrated with NEC premise-based systems.
