On this episode of My TechDecisions Podcast, Associate Editor Zachary Comeau talks to Laura Padilla, head of global business development for videoconferencing platform Zoom.
Zoom has exploded in usage and popularity due to the surge in remote work and videoconferencing due to coronavirus-induced lockdowns and quarantines. Padilla says the platform now has 300 million daily active users compared to just 10 million earlier this year.
Padilla lays out a number of steps the company has taken — and is taking — to address security and data privacy issues that arose as a result of the platform’s popularity.
Zoom is currently working on end-to-end encryption and other security features, but is also eyeing ramping up development of productivity like enhanced chat functions once its 90-day security plan is over.
