My TechDecisions Podcast – Episode 53, Grigoriy Milis of RFA

In this episode of My TechDecisions Podcast, host and TD Managing Editor Jonathan Blackwood speaks with Grigoriy Milis, Chief Technology Officer at Richard Fleischman & Associates. RFA is a managed services provider that was in need of its own cybersecurity solution, and Grigoriy discusses the process of researching, testing, and ultimately choosing the right solution for his company.

Richard Fleischman & Associates (RFA) is a managed service provider (MSP) that provides alternative investment management clients with IT security tools that can protect their sensitive financial data. RFA is a highly interesting case study because the company uses Bitglass to protect its own environment and data, and—because it has tested and vetted the solution—it also recommends the technology to its customers and partners.

Grigoriy discusses a number of factors that go into choosing a new cybersecurity technology. With the added benefit of being a managed services provider, he has a unique perspective of the process of vetting, and working with, the right company that provides the right solution. He goes on to discuss how he considers calculating ROI on a solution like cybersecurity.

Before you listen to the interview, Grigoriy provided a few explanations for some of the terms he used while speaking:

Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)—a cloud-based visibility and control point that rests between cloud service consumers and cloud service providers in order to enforce enterprise security policies that protect data at upload, at download, and at rest.

Data Loss Prevention (DLP)—a set of tools and processes used to ensure sensitive data is not lost, misused, or accessed by unauthorized users. Varied levels of data access can be provided by a variety of capabilities, including redaction, quarantine, and more.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)—a legal framework that sets guidelines around the collection and processing of personal information belonging to individuals within the European Union. GDPR came into effect on May 25, 2018.
