Technology decision makers typically don’t just fall into their interest in new technology. Where today they’re interested in the latest digital signage, cybersecurity offerings, artificial intelligence solutions, and so on, years ago it was the latest video game console or mobile device that was peaking their interest. Ask any technology manager what their favorite holiday gift was, and you’re likely to get a list of the most popular consumer technology throughout the years as an answer. From Atari to the Amazon Echo, technology managers have been at the head of the line waiting for the latest technology since long before their careers in tech began.
We’re no different here at TechDecisions, and sister publications Commercial Integrator and Security, Sales, and Integration. When we started discussing the types of gifts that technology professionals most desire, we soon found ourselves deep in conversation about the tech gifts of yesteryear that we so desired. Video game consoled, audio devices, mobile phones, and more.
We realized that love of technology is the thing that connects all of our publications. Even though we’ve gone corporate – sold out, as our younger selves might tell us – and focus mostly on commercial technology, its still the cool gizmos and gadgets that get us excited about the possibility of technology.
We thought we would include our audience in our trip through days of technology gifts passed, and might spark your memory about some of your favorite gifts throughout the year. So we wrote down all of the most influential and desired holiday gifts from as far back as we could remember (and even further, in some cases), and compiled a list of the most nostalgic holiday technology gifts of the past and present.
Check out our slideshow to see the full list of technology gifts, and join us in our stroll down memory lane. Happy holidays from TechDecisions!
