14 Million Android Devices Infected by CopyCat Malware
A new malware dubbed CopyCat has infected more than 14 million Android devices, earning $1.5 million in fake ad revenues in months.
8 million of the infected devices are rooted, 3.8 million are serving ads, and 4.4 million were used to steal credit for installing apps on Google Play. The majority of victims come from South and Southeast Asia.
Researchers believe that millions of victims were infected through third-party app downloads and phishing attacks.
