Self-Driving Cars Can Be Hacked by Stickers
The latest car hacking trick uses stickers on signs to confuse cars and cause accidents.
A team of researchers from the University of Washington demonstrated how anyone could print stickers off at home and put them on a few road signs to convince “most” autonomous cars into misidentifying road signs and cause accidents.
The researchers were able to place simple stickers on cars and trick 100 percent of test cases into believing stop signs were simply speed limit signs. They didn’t stop.
The researchers did not reveal the manufacturers tested.
