Database Leaks 1.4 Billion Records
River City Media, a notorious spamming organization, is a recent victim of a database leak that has revealed 1.4 billion email addresses combines with real names, IP addresses, and sometimes physical addresses as well.
Researchers discovered an unsecured and publicly exposed repository of network-available backup files linked to the company. The entire operation was exposed, including information about operations, 1.4 billion user records, and documents revealing the inner workings of the company’s spam operation.
It’s estimated that the company is responsible for sending around a billion spam messages daily.
It was also exposed that the company was employing many illegal hacking techniques in order to target more users.
