U.S. Trade Group Hacked by Chinese Hackers
According to reports, Chinese hacking group APT10 implanted a piece of malware on the Events page of the US National Foreign Trade Council website in February.
Dubbed Operation TradeSecret, it is believed that the attack was meant to surveille main industry players and lobbyists close to the U.S. trade policy activities.
The malicious link invited board of directors to register for a meeting. Clicking on the link instead deployed a spying tool called “Scanbox.”
