AWS has announced the general availability of Amazon Braket, a new fully-managed service that helps customers explore and design quantum algorithms.
According to Amazon, Customers will be able to test and troubleshoot quantum algorithms on simulated quantum computers running on computing resources in AWS to help them verify their implementation. When ready, customers can use the new service to run their algorithms on their choice of quantum processors based on different systems like D-Wave, IonQ and Rigetti.
In a press release, the company said quantum computing can solve problems that are beyond the reach of traditional computers by harnessing quantum mechanics to build more powerful processing tools. The technology is thought to be the next step in our technological evolution. However, making advances in the field is diffifult due to limited quantum hardware and a lack of access to infrastructure and other necessary tools.

Amazon says the new service can help organizations overcome those challenges by enabling developers and researchers to explore and evaluate quantum computing via AWS tools already familiar to many.
Bill Vass, vice president of technology at AWS, said in a statement that cuistomers are asking for ways to experiment with quantum computing as the field makes progress.
“The cloud will be the main way that customers access quantum computers and combine those systems with high-performance classical computing for certain types of computationally-intensive research,” Vass said. “Amazon Braket makes it easy for organizations to begin experimenting with quantum computing today—from those just beginning to explore the possibilities to those that are already familiar with different quantum technologies and are ready to use it as a research tool. Our goal for Amazon Braket is to be a catalyst for innovation across the quantum community, bringing together hardware and software developers, researchers, and end users.”
According to Amazon, Fidelity Investments, Amgen, Volkswagen, Enel, University of Waterloo, Rahko, and Qu & Co are among organization currently using Amazon Braket.
