Salesforce has launched Einstein Recommendations for Trailhead, bringing artificial intelligence-powered learning to the company’s online learning platform.
The addition of Einstein-powered recommendations comes as Salesforce launches a series of new productivity tools that aim to make the building apps on the platform easier.
“COVID-19’s rapid acceleration of digital transformation has disrupted the workforce and made reskilling an imperative,” the company said in a news release. “Einstein Recommendations makes it easier for anyone to learn skills for the jobs of the future by providing accessible, personalized learning pathways.”
According to Sandeep Bhanot, senior vice president of Trailhead Product at Salesforce, users are presented with Einstein-powered recommendations whenever they log onto the Trailhead homepage or complete a badge on desktop or mobile.
Those recommendations guide users towards new badges and skills mapped to their learning goals, Bhanot said.

“These are highly personalized based on your role, previous learning activity and career aspirations,” Bhanot said.
This is similar to how consumers interact with apps and services like Amazon or Netflix, which offers suggestions for products or content based on the user’s interests.
“What that means for our learners is that they expect a consumer-grade user experience when they engage with Trailhead. Our Einstein-powered AI provides that,” Bhanot said.
This creates a personalized, intelligent learning experience at scale that will not only guide users based on their own journeys, but also on the experience of other users with similar interests, said Tony Pizza, senior director of product management.
“Einstein Recommendations for Trailhead adds a layer of personalization at scale that would otherwise be impossible to manually achieve,” Pizza said.
“Interestingly, people don’t always follow the learning paths you might think, similar to how a consumer’s buying behaviors might differ from what an online retailer might assume. This is a great example of the power of humans plus AI to achieve results that would otherwise be unimaginable.”
