Earlier this week, James Madison University (JMU) was awarded a Seal of Alignment in Mastery for its ISTE-T Certification Program.
According to a statement by ISTE, JMU’s ISTE-T program is a “portfolio-based assessment program for teachers designed to certify that they have demonstrated alignment to the ISTE Standards for Teachers.”
The program is offered by the university’s Outreach & Engagement, and assesses teacher portfolios that match up with ISTE Standards for Teachers indicators. The program also features:
• Portfolio-based assessment
• Twelve-month self-paced online program
• Content appropriate for educators skilled in the application of technology for teaching and learning
• JMU graduate credit upon successful completion
Colleges and universities can use ISTE to achieve education goals while integrating technology in their teaching and learning standards.
ISTE’s Seals of Alignment fall under three levels of recognition:
Readiness: a seal that represents resources targeting learning with technology that help build foundational technology skills needed to support ISTE standards.
Mastery: a seal that represents learning objectives and implementations that measure performance skills.
Proficiency: a seal that represents resources that offer an implementation plan and instances through which participants can practice the skills and knowledge necessary to match ISTE standards.
