Wartburg College installed the Transcend Active Acoustic System in its Neumann Auditorium to revamp the sound quality for musical performances.
The Transcend solution was developed by Wenger Corporation, and its partner, HARMAN.
Transcend enables facility managers to utilize acoustic simulations to improve the sound quality of musical performances. These simulations reduce the need for extra microphones and speakers.
“With advanced HARMAN technology, Transcend provides superior performance with excellent value compared to other systems on the market,” said Ron Freiheit, Director of Design Engineering at Wenger and Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, in a previous statement. “To make the system as cost-effective as possible, we developed a purpose-designed DSP system explicitly for active acoustics. Transcend is simply a sound investment.”
The solution utilizes Lexicon active acoustics processing, and is bundled with other audio components. Transcend features a BLU-link digital audio transport that allows the system to communicate with a dedicated processor for active acoustics.
Transcend can also manage remote audio through Audio Architect software and HiQnet. It also features 16 inputs and independent 4-zone capability.
“You can virtually create any acoustic you want,” said Dr. Lee Nelson, Wartburg Director of Choral Activities, in a previous statement. “It’s limitless. I was blown away by the authentic sound of the acoustic. That’s what we’re always doing as performers: trying to create a natural feel. I’m very excited about the possibilities this brings to our concert hall.”
