Key Digital Introduces KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 HDMI Switchers

Newly introduced Key Digital HDMI switchers (KD-PRO2x1, KD-PRO4x1)provide HDMI switching solutions for commercial and education applications.

Key Digital recently introduced KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 HDMI switchers with 4K/60 4:4:4 capabilities that will support all SD, HD, and VESA resolutions and features a TMDS bandwidth of 18 Gbps.

KD-PRO2x1 switches between two HDMI sources and the KD-PRO4x1 switches from four HDMI sources to the one HDMI output/display, according to a Key Digital press release. “These switchers feature audio de-embedding of analog L/R balanced/unbalanced and digital coaxial audio,” according to the announcement.

“The KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 are designed and engineered to offer the best in quality, performance and reliability, while providing a cost-effective HDMI switching solution, making this a perfect device for presentation use in conference rooms, classrooms, huddle spaces, and more,” according to the Key Digital press release. Here’s more from the Key Digital press release:

“What is, perhaps, most unique about KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 HDMI switchers are the trigger input and auto-sensing. With trigger input an installer can actually wire a button for a client on a conference room table or similar, to just ‘boom’ switch the presenter! It just takes two wires,” explains Jonathon Ferry, Key Digital’s national training manager. “With auto-sensing, Key Digital is really leading the market with control options.

This feature was just used in an application in Europe in which 60 rooms were being updated from analog to digital with the removal of an antiquated control system. In that application the auto-sensing feature activated by hot plug detection with HDMI allows a presenter to simply plug in their laptop to instantly become the presenter. When they unplug the unit chooses the next sequential input until someone else plus in for instant control again. It is a simple but greatly appreciated feature.”

The KD-Pro2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 support HDCP 2.2. These devices are HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) capable allowing for pristine image quality through a greater range of luminance levels. Deep Color is supported with ranges up to UHD/4K 30Hz 4:4:4/12 bits or 60Hz 4:4:4/8 bit as well as 3D ready. Supported lossless compressed digital audio formats include: Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, and Dolby Atmos.

The KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 HDMI switchers use advanced EDID controls, and come with a built-in internal library with 15 default EDID handshakes for inputs in addition to native EDID date for output/display. Key Digital’s proprietary Full Buffer System manages TMDS re-clocking / signal re-generation, HDCP authentication to source and display, and EDID control handshake.

KD-PRO2x1 and KD-PRO4x1 join a suite of Key Digital IP enabled products that are now app-ready. Installers and users can switch inputs and control Key Digital systems as if they were standing in front of the unit, all from an iOS-enabled device.  The Key Digital app can be downloaded free from the App Store.
