New RM Series Interactive Flat Panels for Students from BenQ

BenQ introduces RM Series classroom IFPs with certified low blue light and flicker-free technology ‘create active and healthier learning experiences.’

September 6, 2018 TechDecisions Staff 1 Comment

BenQ recently introduced two new 4K ultra-high-definition interactive flat panels (IFPs) specifically designed for the classroom: the 65-inch RM6501K and 75-inch RM7501K IFPs.

The RM Series IFPs feature TÜV-certified Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies, protecting students’ eyes from blue light emissions and flicker that may cause adverse health effects, according to the company press release.

“BenQ is committed to paving the way for schools to create exceptional learning experiences,” said Bob Wudeck, senior director, business, education, and Cinepro solutions at BenQ America Corp.

“That meant taking our proven interactive flat panel technology to the next level and engineering the industry’s first IFP lineup designed to not only solve the growing challenges of keeping students easily engaged, but healthy as well.

Customer Benefits of IFP Technology

“Teachers will love how quickly they can master new curriculum that spurs excitement and success, while parents will appreciate how our IFP technology prioritizes their children’s well-being,” he said.

BenQ’s Low Blue Light technology senses when someone is close to the panel and adjusts the light, minimizing blue-light exposure and providing a healthier alternative to other LED displays, certified under TÜV Rheinland, the highest standards body for technical services and technology safety.

The RM Series’ Flicker-Free technology is designed to remove LED backlight flickering while providing a zero-flicker viewing experience, reducing eye fatigue and alleviating discomfort caused by looking at the screen. The IFP’s anti-glare surface reduces reflections caused by bright lights and windows.’

RM Series Features

BenQ’s education IFPs feature advanced touch enhancement, which converts handwriting to legible text, numbers, forms and drawings. The panels allow 10 simultaneous points of touch.

This enables students and teachers to work at the board using two pens simultaneously or use its brush mode that allows creative collaboration with paintbrushes or other instruments.

A floating toolbar grants quick access to the most used tools including screen capture, eraser, pen and whiteboard.  Screen annotations can be saved as PDF or PNG files on to a USB drive or internal memory, printed and shared via QR code.

Instant Plug and Play eliminates setup hassles by connecting to a PC via USB.  They can also wirelessly broadcast images, audio and HD quality video from mobile devices with switching between up to 16 participant devices with the InstaQShare app.

A blank setting allows teachers to darken the screen, while a freeze feature enables screen grabs from videos or to highlight the screen. BenQ also incorporates several recommended Android apps. BenQ IFPs come with website control features that block certain websites, preventing students from accessing inappropriate content.

The RM Series features Multiple Display Administrator (MDA) capabilities that allow operators to remotely control display on/off time or backlight via LAN or RS-232.  This software will also enable IT managers to control not only IFPs, but also projectors from BenQ and other manufacturers from the same platform.

It also grants administrators the ability to install Android apps to any IFP deployed across a school or district via the cloud. Operators can also keep all display drivers up to date with Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
