Matrox has a clear message at InfoComm 2017: Today, it is possible to do AV-over-IP at high quality, even 4K, low bit-rates and reliability you can count on.

Samuel Receine, director of sales for Americas and Asia Pacific, Matrox, takes a moment to speak with CI abut what the company has in store for InfoComm attendees at its booth (1973).

If we learn about only one product innovation in your InfoComm 2017 booth, what should it be?

Make sure to take the time to check out the Maevex 6150 Quad 4K Enterprise Encoder Appliance. This is the first appliance in the world to offer quad capture of 4K inputs with incredible quality at only 30 Mbps.

Not only that, the Maevex 6150 can stream each source at independently programmable bit rates and using any of the popular streaming protocols. The bundled PowerStream Plus software makes it easy to configure and manage multisource AV-over-IP networks.

What if we have time to see one more thing?

We are extremely excited about our Extio 3 KVM over IP product line. Extio 3 can provide 4Kp60 4:4:4 or quad 1080p60 4:4:4 video over IP, along with keyboard, mouse, and audio extension. This is all being offered at an unprecedentedly low 30 Mbps.

Again, with the user and integrator in mind, Extio 3 offers both easy installation and easy switching over standard IP infrastructure; no proprietary switches are needed.

What’s one impression you’d like us to take away from your InfoComm 2017 booth?

4K streaming does not require infrastructure upgrades—even the highest fidelity 4:4:4 4K can be offered at 30 Mbps for any application. Matrox is now offering best of breed AV-over-IP, best of breed IP video wall processors and multiviewers, best of breed KVM extension, and best of breed enterprise encoding.

What does Matrox want the market to know about AV-over-IP?

New applications of AV—including wireless and multi-site—are exciting growth opportunities. When we look at surveys and feedback available regarding those newest applications of AV on the mind on end users, noted examples are access to AV sources with wireless technologies and AV topologies with far greater expanse and manageability over cloud for multi-site distributions. With these applications in mind, it is clear that “true” open standards and bit rates only achievable through high-efficiency compression are key technologies for next-gen AV deployments.

When you think of AV-over-IP, think about what you want from any other IP application: scalability, speed, and interoperability. Today, it is possible to do any resolution—including 4K— and any quality level at extremely low bit rates, such as 30 Mbps. Today, it is possible to do sub-50 millisecond latency with 30 Mbps AV-over-IP solutions. Today, open standards like H.264 are critical; proprietary AV boxes and consortiums based on proprietary technologies create unnecessary lock-in and cannot scale into the future…and the market knows that.

If you have any questions about AV-over-IP, Matrox has some of the foremost minds in the field working on technological advances, and as part of that work we aim to pass that knowledge along. We—along with partners—hold seminars, trainings, and webinars to help educate the market; our next offering is the InfoComm Manufacturer’s Training (MT-60) on Thursday June 15.
