We’ve covered NEC Display Solutions’ Partner Showcase, an event put on by NEC in order to show off the company’s new technology and partner technologies, in the past. This year’s show promises to have some great new technology to show off, as well as educational sessions to help familiarize attendees with NEC technology. We spoke with Keith Yanke, Senior Director of Product Marketing for NEC Display Solutions, about what attendees can expect from the show.
TD: What can people attending expect to see at NEC Display Solutions’ Partner Showcase 2015?
KY: We’ve been doing the showcase for over 20 years now, and this year we’re moving to a different, larger venue. There are two reasons for this – to have more partners related to the solutions and applications that we’re targeting currently in our business, as well as to get more exposure for the NEC products by having more on display and having all of it in one area. That’s the main purpose of the showcase.
From a partner standpoint, we try to include partners that complement the display product with an application – whether it’s a mount, control systems, audio, software, touch – those different third party partners and accessories complement the display products that we sell to provide a solution for the markets and applications that we’re going after.
TD: Who should be attending the event?
KY: Anybody interested in or already using displays, and wanting to see where we’re at today and where the future might be going. Whether you’re an end user, reseller or integrator related to the Pro AV space, as well as consultants. Those areas are where we get our largest attendance from.
TD: Can you speak to the educational aspect of the show?
KY: During the open house portion of the show we will be having two presentations that will be going on. One of them is related to projectors and the other is related to large format displays. Anyone looking to get credits toward their CTS or keeping their CTS will be able to do it at the showcase via these two education seminars.
TD: What has made NEC Display Solutions interested in adding this educational aspect to the showcase?
KY: I think it’s a great way to reach a broader audience. It’s one thing to get the sales people or the consultants to come in, but it’s another to get some of the more technical people come in. By having these educational courses we can reach a broader audience and get more of those design engineers into the showcase and get them to not only see our products and partners, but also to learn and get credit for their CTS standards moving forward. It’s a way to reach that broader audience and get more people to attend than in the past. Plus, I think from an education standpoint it shows that NEC is looking at that and feels it’s valuable and important moving forward. It’s not just about moving displays, it’s also about making sure that, when you’re designing a system or application, you’re choosing the right product, you know how it operates and you understand the functions and features. We want to make sure that the people that are reselling or promoting our products understand the NEC product and what it’s capable of. The education courses allow NEC to do that.
TD: For people that might have visited your booths at InfoComm or CorpComm Expo or any of the other shows you attend, what can they find that’s different from what they saw at those trade shows?
KY: There’s a number of new products that we will be displaying for the first time, or allowing people to see up close. Some of the times when we do these shows, especially with projection, you don’t get a chance to see the product up close and personal. For this event you’ll get to do that. Whether it’s some of our latest solid-state light source projectors and higher brightness models you’ll be able to see for the first time. Our large format displays you’ll be able to see. Some of our new video wall products that are IPS panels or less than 2 mm bezel between two displays we’ll be showing here at the showcase. As well as seeing some of the technology that’s going to be there for years to come such as 4k and UHD. NEC is one of the few manufacturers that can really tout the fact that we can provide desktop, large format and projectors all at UHD or 4K resolution. We’ll be showing all that technology at the showcase.
People interested in attending the event can register online at the NEC Display Solutions website or show up and register on-site.
