The first annual EduComm Expo introduced a new wave of digital display solutions.
Some vendors, like NEC Display Solutions, featured traditional digital signs with thin bezel sizes for an optimal, nearly seamless image. Peerless-AV showed its kiosk solution for improved wayfinding capabilities, and Visix displayed digital meeting room signs that enable students and instructors to book rooms for classes or study sessions.
wePresent WiPG showcased its Share Pod product, which allows any students or instructor to connect a device of their choice for a presentation. appspace featured its cloud-managed signage system for safety and security, weather updates, and departmental branding. FourWinds Interactive showed off its signage solution, which enables users to build signs faster with content pulled from social media.
People Driven Performance showed its interactive digital display, which provides an outlet for users to pull up metrics and improve internal communications.
Dennis Dotson, president of People Driven Performance, said that a good display solution triggers instant understanding through its content, builds community with users and provides personalization opportunities.
He said a display solution is most successful when it draws in an audience, and connects people.
“If you’re looking to build communities, it’s all about telling stories,” Dotson said at the show. “The shortest distance between two people is a story.”
