Biamp's TesiraLUX

Biamp introduced TesiraLUX, an encoder/decoder pair that introduces low-latency 4K networked video distribution to its Tesira platform. The siblings, as they’re called, transport both audio and video signals over a single network using AVB (audio video bridging). The TesiraLUX product line will initially include an AVB video encoder (TesiraLUX IDH-1) and an AVB video decoder (TesiraLUX OH-1). The encoder features one HDMI port, one DisplayPort port, and two mic/line-level analog inputs. The decoder includes one HDMI port and two line-level analog outputs. TesiraLUX supports the latest advancements in video formats, including 4096x2160 at 60-Hz, high dynamic range (HDR) and the Rec. 2020 color space. It can accept video at up to 16-bit color depth with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, as well as supports 8 channels of embedded PCM audio, which can be broken out to be routed and processed independently.

Stewart 16K-Ready Projection Screens

Stewart Filmscreen is not only one of the manufacturers showing 16K screens at InfoComm this week, but it took attendees by surprise when it announced that all of its top-selling screens for commercial venues can accommodate resolutions up to 16K, and have been able to since 1947.

“When 16K projectors are available, Stewart Filmscreen will be waiting,” the company asserts. So if your company is already using Stewart Filmscreen when 8K or 16K projectors come out, you won’t need to upgrade your projection screens.

Nureva Span System

Expanding the capabilities of its Span system, the Calgary, Alberta-based manufacturer showed a mobile version of the collaboration system at InfoComm. The Span incorporates a 1080p projector and a customer-supplied PC with a package that is capable of throwing images over six-feet wide. The projector features a solid-state light engine for 25,000 hours of lamp life, HDMI and USB ports, and it allows users to share and create ideas from their smart devices.

Exterity's ArtioSign

Answering customers’ demands for signage integrated as part of its IPTV video distribution system, Exterity’s ArtioSign, an integrated digital signage set-top box solution, was showcased at InfoComm 2016. When integrated with Exterity’s IP video solutions, ArtioSign enables live TV and video to be incorporated into digital signage screens.

“There’s been an increasing demand from our customers to provide signage integrated as part of the IPTV video distribution system so we’ve added ArtioSign to our portfolio, which allows us to take one of our receiver devices and allows it to be essentially flipped between pure IPTV video distribution and signage mode where the stream real estate can be used for a variety of purposes over and above just the delivery of video,” says Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity.

Absen Inc. N Series Permanent Indoor Displays

Absen Inc. showcased its N Series permanent indoor displays, boasting 1,100 nits of brightness. Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Studio

Attendees couldn’t miss Blackmagic Design’s all black truck parked in front of its booth at InfoComm 2016, but it’s what was inside of the truck that was most impressive. Displaying Blackmagic Design’s various switchers and video software, new and old, perhaps most exciting was the company’s new DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Studio.

This software installs DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Studio professional editing and color correction software. With over 1,000 enhancements and 250 new features, DaVinci Resolve 12.5 Studio features everything found in the free version, plus adds multiple GPU support, 4K mastering, HDR grading, motion blur effects, noise reduction, 3D, multi-user tools and more.

Atlona OmniStream AV over IP Product Family

“This is a great release for us,” said Atlona’s Garth Lobban, during InfoComm 2016. The director of marketing wasn’t simply talking about the three new half-rack models from Atlona’s new OmniStream AV over IP product family that it introduced during the show in Las Vegas. His comment on day 3 of the event was more of a reflection on how integrators visiting Atlona’s booth had reacted to the new offers.

These products are specially designed to be robust and scalable for the Pro AV market and create the ability to truly stream “any to any, many to many” over a standard Gigibit network.

Atlona’s OmniStream products are expected to ship in September 2016, according to Lobban.

Da-Lite’s Re-Imagined Fast-Fold Screen

For those who work in rental and staging Da-Lite’s Fast-Fold folding screen is so widely used and embraced that Fast-Fold has become “almost the Kleenex of the industry,” says Da-Lite senior marketing manager Melissa Rone.

“People use them every day. They’re workhorses. They get beat up. They get abused. They withstand the heavy use.”

However, Da-Lite decided it was time to give the beloved Fast-Fold a refresh. After all, a product that is as heavily used as it is and has been around for as long as it has is bound to generate some feedback. “We took a holistic approach, talked to business owners, product managers, set engineers, technicians who set up and take it down, end users who hire AV companies, owners, buyers,” Rone says. “And we just listened.”

Digital Projection’s New E-Vision Laser Projectors

The thing about laser projection is that it becomes a good ROI decision for customers more quickly as the prices go down, and Digital Projection is trying to make those decisions easier for more customers by unveiling two new budget-oriented E-Vision laser projectors (adding to the E-Vision Laser 8500) at InfoComm 2016—the E-Vision Laser 6500 and 7500.
