3) New workspaces will support new work styles
Polycom says that visual collaboration is moving outside of conference rooms and making its way in virtual spaces, along with audio, content sharing and video communications. The company expects 2016 will bring in a wave of conference or huddle room expansions, and invest in “center-of-the-room” collaboration solutions.
Colleges are mimicking these investments. Schools like Central Arizona College are investing in new furniture and reconfiguring the setup of their classrooms to create a more centralized, collaboration environment for student learning.
4) More high-quality content
According to Polycom, businesses (and colleges alike) used to consider high-definition and high-quality collaborative solutions as a luxury, rather than a necessity. However, as millennials continue to dominate the workplace, expectations of a high-quality collaborative experiences are driving institutions to invest in higher-quality technologies, networks, and other solutions. Millennials are also bringing their own collaboration-based devices with them into the work world from college, and expect to be able to use them after graduation.
