After discovering that the Copyfish extension was hijacked last week, researchers have discovered seven more Chrome extensions that have been compromised. In total, the extensions target over 4.8 million users.
The newly affected extensions include Web Developer, Chrometana, Infinity New Tab, Web Paint, Social Fixer and more.
Once the attackers gained access to the accounts, either they hijacked their respective extensions and then modified them to perform malicious tasks, or they add malicious Javascript code to them in an attempt to hijack traffic and expose users to fake ads and password theft in order to generate revenue.
