HBO Offers Hackers $250,000 for Ransom
Hackers that stole 1.5 terabytes of information from HBO have been leaking episodes of popular shows, and HBO has offered them $250,000 to stop. The offer comes after the hackers demanded $6 million in Bitcoins. HBO was sure to make the offer as a bounty payment.
In screenshots of the email, an HBO executive asked for more time to get the money together. HBO claims this was a stall tactic and denies that they ever planned to pay the $250,000.
The hackers have threatened to release more files until the full ransom is paid.
