With the number of digital and online learning tools growing in K-12, it’s no surprise that the need for usernames and passwords is growing too. Each app or learning resource comes with its own set of login instructions. One password might require a capital letter and a special character. Another might need at least one number and almost all logins are case sensitive. So what does that mean in the classroom?
It means, teachers are likely spending a lot more time than necessary helping students log in or reset their passwords. Even if students do manage to keep all of their info straight, it’s still a pain to have to log in to each application separately. That takes time and if there is one thing classroom teacher’s don’t have a lot of it’s that.
A number of companies have begun to market single sign-on solutions that allow students to use one login to access all of their digital learning tools. With many of these software platforms, identity access management goes hand-in-hand with single sign-on, making security a lot easier for K-12 technology professionals tasked with access management. This ensures the right people have the appropriate access to the right digital tools.
