HandBrake Hacked to Spread Malware on Macs
HandBrake, an open source video transcoder app that allows Mac users to convert multimedia files from one format to another, has been hacked to spread a Remote Access Trojan.
The security team at HandBrake send out an alert this week warning Mac users that one of its mirror servers to download the software has been compromised.
An unknown hacker replaced the mirror server with a malicious version infected with a variant of the Proton virus.
The affected server has been shut down for investigation.
