New Botnet Found with Thousands of Hacked Servers
A new botnet, dubbed BondNet, has been discovered that consists of more than 15,000 compromised servers.
The botnet is being used to min cryptocurrencies, earning around $25,000 per month. BondNet is only attacking Windows Server machines at present, instead of the IoT devices that have been popular in botnets as of late.
The hackers use a combination of old vulnerabilities and weak user/password combinations to attack old and unsupported Windows Server machines. The hackers then install a Remote Access Trojan and turn the Windows Server into another member of the botnet army.
