Custom system builder Velocity Micro, of Richmond, Va., has announced a suite of new workstation offerings designed for CAD design, 3D rendering, multimedia creation, and scientific calculation. Headlining the refreshed category are an AMD Epyc workstation with up to 64 physical cores and new Intel Xeon Scalable processor offerings, as well as a workstation powered by an AMD Ryzen Threadripper, the chipmaker’s newest Ryzen processor. Select systems from the new offerings will also be available for display and demonstration at the SIGGRAPH 2017 computer graphics show next week in Los Angeles.
Velocity Micro’s new workstations are designed and optimized for use with software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, 3DS Max, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Revit, Maya, Houdini, and many others. Options include:
- ProMagix HD80a – A single CPU workstation powered by an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X processor with 16 cores and 32 threads. Now available for pre-ordering, it sells for $2,899 and up.
- ProMagix HD360a – A dual CPU workstation featuring AMD Epyc processors for up to 32 cores and 64 threads per chip.
- ProMagix HD360i – A dual CPU workstation powered by Intel’s new Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores and 56 threads per chip. Prices start at $2,599.
- ProMagix G480 – Specifically designed for single or dual precision GPU computing with up to 70 Tflops of processing power via eight GPUs. Priced at $7,495 and up.
- ProMagix Smallblock – A small form factor rendering workstation powered by AMD Ryzen processors and optimized for multithreaded applications. Prices begin at $1,199.
All Velocity Micro desktops ship from and are supported in Richmond, Va., the company emphasizes, and are free of extraneous “bloatware.”
