Aurora Unveils ‘First IP Transceiver to use HDBT for Local Connectivity’

Aurora releases HDBT-capable products at InfoComm 2017 — including the HTX-TC1, the “world’s first” to transmit & receive full bandwidth on a single port.

Aurora was busy at InfoComm 2017 in Orlando, Florida. The company’s booth was rustling with demonstrations of new products; one of them, the HTX-TC1, Aurora deems “the first all-in-one IP transceiver product to use HDBaseT for local connectivity.” Additionally, the NJ-based company unveiled three new HDBaseT-capable products with 2 or 8 channel Dante which can work in tandem with the HTX line.

The HTX-TC1, a 10G Ethernet switch port, can transmit and receive full bandwidth in both directions on a single port. Most current AV-over-IP solutions require a 48-port switch and two ports: one for encoding and one for decoding. The HTX-TC1 only requires a 24-port switch.

The product is backwards-compatible with existing systems utilizing HDBaseT and works with the company’s new 18Gbps HDBaseT products, such as the 2-gang transmitter wall plate (HTW-2) and receiver box (HTE-RX2). According to Aurora, the HTX-TC1 is the first to contain 10G SFP (Fiber) and 10G RJ-45 (Copper) in the same unit.

More from an Aurora press release:

“The HTX-TC1 is a new concept for AV over IP and opens new possibilities for a variety of applications. The goal of IPBaseT is to take the strengths of various technologies and create a seamless operation for the ultimate user experience. Combining HDBaseT and HDBaseT-IP in the IPBaseT topology furthers Aurora’s goal to change the way our industry does AV for now and the future,” — Paul Harris, CEO.

A line of HDbT products was also introduced by the New Jersey company at InfoComm. According to a press release, the HTE-TX2 transmitter box, HTW-2 two-gang transmitter Decora wall plate, and HTE-RX2 receiver box are compatible with the HTX-TC1.

These products are capable of transmitting 4K60 4:4:4 18Gbps HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2 100m (330ft) over a single, unshielded CAT cable — all without frame latency, Aurora says.

More from the press release:

All products have an integrated web server for remote IP control, USB 2.0 with directional control, and the world’s first Dante option for 2 or 8 channel Dante. The proAV market is constantly evolving, and it is important to address needs and demands and they arise. HDBaseT is a versatile technology that enables us to deliver the performance and flexibility expected in the market today, and Aurora’s HDBaseT 4K60 4:4:4 is proof of it.

Additional capabilities of the HTE-TX2/HTE-RX2 HDBaseT 2.0 Transmitter/Receiver include:

  • HDR (High Dynamic Range)
  • HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2
  • Dolby® TrueHD, Dolby Atmos®, DTS HD®, DTS:X®, 7.1 PCM audio support
