The Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville, Georgia specializes in corporate meetings, trade shows, social events, and educational training events. The center is operated by the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and houses the Georgia Regional Visitor Information Center in Cartersville. The 40000 square-foot facility and 20-acre grounds were designed and constructed to adhere to the best environmental guidelines, ultimately achieving LEED Gold certification. The center, which has space for up to 2000 people, wanted their AV to match the sophistication of the rest of the facility. The company chose Applied Global Technologies (AGT) to help usher in this new era of audio visual technology at the Clarence Brown Center.

AGT is a provider of managed and visual collaboration solutions that improve communication for organizations of all sizes. With two decades of experience, AGT has designed, integrated, and supported visual environments with award-winning services and technology. The company’s practices include managed video services, cloud-based video services, and AV integration. This allows AGT to provide clients and partners with efficient and cost-effective ways to collaborate and drive business success. With their history and ability, AGT proved to be the perfect partner for the Clarence Brown Center.

AGT led Clarence Brown’s transition from analog to digital systems in their collaborative environments by designing, installing, and programming the latest Crestron solutions into the facility’s AV systems and infrastructure. Having previously employed VGA-compatible Crestron systems in their facilities, the Clarence Brown Conference Center wished to upgrade their audio visual infrastructure to digital systems, as well as add HDMI connectivity.

“We were able to enhance their audio visual environments with the latest technology, a goal we consistently strive to achieve for our customers,” says Mark Cray, CEO of AGT. “The Clarence Brown Conference Center fosters excellent collaboration facilities, and we look forward to helping them reach their audio visual goals in the future.”

AGT brought more consistency to the conference center’s AV experience by advancing their systems with cutting-edge solutions from Crestron, as well as high-quality master touch panels with end user control. Crestron DigitalMedia is an HD video distribution solution that manages and distributes digital AV and control signals while delivering high-definition 1080p and 4K resolution to the displays throughout the conference center.

Complementing the new DigitalMedia system is Crestron AirMedia, which connects almost any mobile device or desktop to a room display. AGT upgraded the infrastructure in several interior spaces of the conference center, including the Etowah Ballroom, Carter Hall, Stilesboro Hall, and the Executive Boardroom. Moving forward, AGT will manage and maintain the audio visual upgrade for Clarence Brown with service and support from their Help Desk.

Control touch panels were a very important aspect of the company’s upgrade. Clarence Brown requires both end user touch panels and a master touch panel. For ease-of-use, AGT implemented end user controls that contain dynamically populated source selection, phone, and volume controls. The master touch panel allows for Clarence Brown administrators to control the room combining in Etowah Ballroom and Stilesboro Hall, source assignments, as well as additional audio mixer settings. One particularly unique application developed for Clarence Brown included a simple multi-room audio checker to prevent audio stacking/doubling, i.e. the same source mixing into an output twice. All in all, Crestron products installed provide auxiliary control of room lighting, 15 zones of audio, four rooms that combine into a total of eight configurations, and three rooms that combine into a total of four configurations.

“In the ever-changing world of technology, working with AGT was a sound decision,” says Penny Davis, Clarence Brown Conference Center general manager. “We have ventured to offer the best A/V collaboration to our clients. AGT’s knowledge of the Crestron systems, and their proximity to maintain our desire to accomplish this goal, made AGT a compelling choice for this transition.”

As a result of the analog to digital transition led by AGT, Clarence Brown now has a consistent and future-proof AV environment. By advancing their facilities with cutting-edge solutions from Crestron and with AGT’s programming and project management expertise, Clarence Brown was able to conduct a seamless transition while continuing to smoothly run their operations.
